Description

Discover the stunning potholes (jettegrytene) in Nissedal, near the village Eikhom, one kilometer from “Telemarksvegen.” Formed by meltwater during the ice age, these round or long depressions in solid rock are a unique natural phenomenon. The river Fyresåna’s spinning motion with stones and gravel in the river bed created these fascinating formations, which were hidden underwater until the river was regulated for electricity production. Today, the potholes have become a popular bathing spot, attracting locals and visitors alike.
